The Salinas Valley Promise program combines instructional excellence with professional guidance, leadership development, life-skills training and a scholarship to ensure your success. You pay zero in-state tuition as a first-time, full-time student, regardless of your family income.
Salinas Valley Promise Program Application
Spring 2024 Application Submission Deadline is December 15, 2023.
Fall 2024 Application Submission Deadline TBD.
*A Hartnell ID is required at application
SVP applicants and scholars are protected from non-paymentfor Spring 2024 or Fall 2024 tuition until eligibility
is confirmed.
Notifications of admission into the Salinas Valley Promise will be sent via Hartnell email communication.

Benefits of the Promise
Requirements of the Promise
- Graduate from a high school or adult school
- Be a first-time college student (dual/concurrent enrollment units accepted)
- CA resident or qualify for non-resident tuition exemption through AB540/SB68
- Maintain full-time enrollment with 12 units or more
- Completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) OR California Dream Act Application (CADAA)
- Completion of the Student Success Seminar and attend one workshop per semester
- Maintain at least a 2.0 semester GPA
STEPS TO THE PROMISE
Submit an application for admissions to Hartnell College through CCCApply
Submit the Salinas Valley Promise Program Application.
A Hartnell student ID and account is required to sign-in and submit the form (see Step 1).
Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or California Dream Act Application
Spring 2024 applicants complete a 2023-2024 FAFSA or CADAA application
Fall 2024 applicants complete a 2024-2025 FAFSA or CADAA application
Please indicate Hartnell College (School Code: 001209) on your application. Up to 7 schools can be added.
Enroll and continue as a full-time student at Hartnell College during Fall and Spring semesters deadlines (12 or more units each semester).
a. Waitlisted courses do not count towards the 12 units
b. It is highly recommended you participate in Panther Prep Pledge
Students enrolled in fewer than 12 units may be eligible for SVP when eligible for a reduced course load as a Department of Supportive Programs and Services (DSPS) accommodation
Enroll for the Student Success Seminar
*Dual Enrollment students are exempt from this requirement*
Choose one or more of the following options:
1) Counseling course for Fall/Spring: COU-1, COU-21, or COU-23
2) Summer or Winter Math Academy
3) Summer bridge hosted by approved support programs*
* Approved support programs: TRiO, Vocational Nursing (VN), Teacher Pathway Program (TPP) / MAESTROs, Computer Science in 3 Years (CSin3), Math Academy, CCAP Dual Enrollment
Students will be notified via email of admission into the Salinas Valley Promise program. Acceptance will require completion of a commitment contract.
