The College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) has established the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) to enable those who have reached the college level of education outside the classroom to demonstrate their achievement and to use test results for college credit and/or placement.

Students planning to receive an Associate Degree from Hartnell College should submit official test scores and request evaluation of credit from the Admissions & Records Office. For the general examinations, elective credit will be given for each area passed with a score of 500 or better. For the subject examinations, elective credit, will be given for each area passed with scale score of 50 or better. Minimum scores for Hartnell course equivalencies, where established, may be obtained from admissions & Records. Maximum units that may be granted via CLEP are 30. Credit will be awarded toward the Associate Degree, but grades and grade points will not be assigned. Units granted will not count toward the residence requirements of the College.
