Licensure Passage Rates

AB2086, requires colleges to make available the passage rates of any programs that require a California licensing examination.   Pursuant to the California Education Code, Section 94816, nursing schools are required by law to disclose the passage rates of their "graduates in the program for the most recent calendar year that ended no less than six months prior to the date of disclosure on any licensure or certificate examination required by the state."  Because NCLEX-RN and -PN are provided "on demand" throughout the year, the Board of Registered Nursing, Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians, and Respiratory Care Board statistics include applicants who may have graduated from prior classes other than the most recent calendar year.  The Boards do not report pass rates of only the members of the most recent graduating class. Therefore, the pass rates reported on their web pages may not correspond to the passage rates reported by the programs. The passage rates for Hartnell College's students can be viewed at the links below. The licensure passage rates are from the California Department of Consumer Affairs showing the most recent NCLEX Passage rates for all Nursing and Health Sciences Programs in the State of California. The Colleges are listed in alphabetical order. Please scroll down the list to find Hartnell College's most recent passage rate.

The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) regulates the practice of registered nursing and certified advanced practice nurses in order to protect the public. The Board exists to protect the health and safety of consumers and promote quality registered nursing care in California.

The mandate of the Respiratory Care Board is to protect and serve the consumer by administering and enforcing the Respiratory Care Practice Act and its regulations in the interest of the safe practice of respiratory care. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) regularly perform critical lifesaving and life support procedures prescribed by physicians that directly affect major organs of the body. RCPs provide care directly to the patient in either a hospital setting or the patient's home. Patients may be suffering from lung cancer, emphysema, asthma, or cystic fibrosis, or may be premature infants whose lungs have not yet fully developed. More than 34,000 RCP licenses have been issued in the State of California.
